Should I get the biggest drive available?
* No not necessarily. In most cases you would be better off with a drive that fits your needs. in most cases, the larger the drive the slower the transfer of backups to and from that drive. However, you certainly don't want to purchase a drive that you will out grow in next 2-3 years or so.
What is the difference between FireWire and USB?
* External drives usually come with USB, e-SATA or Firewire interface. USB tends to be a safer option if you are not sure if your computer supports the latter. Their is really not much difference although most claim that a FireWire Connection to your computer will transfer data to and from the drive faster. What is probably more important is the speed of the drive itself.
Who makes the best, most reliable drives?
* This is a tough question to answer. I would not choose your drive by Manufacturer, but rather by specs (speed, computer type, connection type).
Do I have to set it up or install anything on my computer for it to work?
* The majority of the drives in our selection will be Plug and Play. Some will mention specific types of computers that they will be used on most reliably. If you run an old operating system you may need to manually install the drivers. In most cases your package will included a disk with drivers for manual installation. If not you can proceed to the manufacturers website and download drivers for your computer/operating system.
